With my images I strive to cultivate fascination and excitement for the natural world and its inhabitants. Many of the species I choose to depict are threatened or lesser known creatures.
The Okapi is one such animal. Once known to European explorers as the African Unicorn, this peculiar mammal is now known to be a rainforest dwelling relative of the Giraffe. Okapis can be found in the Ituri Forest of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The animal's long tongue has such a great reach that it can be used to clean its own eyelids and ears.
The Okapi is an endangered species.
