Last night we attended the opening of the
Collective .1 Design Fair at Pier 57. This inaugural design fair features a "cohesive, curated selection of contemporary design and historical pieces from galleries around the world" and LittleCollector is honored to be offering free kids tours for kids 4+ on Friday May 10th and Saturday May 11th at noon and 1pm daily. Space is limited so rsvp to hello@littlecollector.com. And for design fans, the fair offers a wonderful selection of vintage and contemporary furniture, jewelry and design. Last night's standouts included a super-fun (and provocative) installation by
Sebastian Errazuriz that combined industrial fans and neon text, the tattoo-derived textiles and wallpaper in the
Grey Area booth and the public furnishing provided by American-made furniture purveyor
BDDW (the leather-backed chairs were particularly lovely).

Don't miss this opening by one of our favorite artists and illustrator, John Nickle, next Tuesday at the 92nd Street Y. Featuring Nickle's illustrations going back to 1988, it should be a wonderful, kid-friendly show! Plus don't miss exclusive illustrations (every letter of the alphabet from A-Z) from Nickle's book Alphabet Explosion available only on LittleCollector.

Big congratulations to our friend Margaret Morrison whose solo show "Child's Play" recently opened at Woodward Gallery. Now on view until December 22nd, it's a great chance to see Margaret's original oil paintings up close - believe us they're spectacular! We're particularly pleased to see Fisher Price People in the show - it's one of our favorites AND it's available as a limited edition exclusively through LittleCollector. Stop by Woodward if you're on the Lower East Side and meet the Artist Saturday, December 1st from 6-8pm at the Champagne Reception!
from the gallery:
Artist Margaret Morrison loves considering life from a child's point of view. Life becomes mysterious and magical all over again. In “Child’s Play,” Morrison relives her world of imagination with giant robots, enormous pull toys, life size dolls, and Fisher Price people. She observes from a naive perspective yet tantalizes the grown- ups with an undertone both scary and delightful at once.

Love this adorable craft idea for the 4th of July. It's easy to do with kids (have them gather and trim the sticks then paint them red and white) and perfect for hanging on the door, over the hearth or on the garden gate! Pair with the below white chocolate dipped strawberries (with blue sprinkles or colored sugar) for a truly patriotic fete.

Our mouths are watering just thinking about the opening of the storied
Maison Laudree in New York. Home of the most delicious macarons
ever (
jamais!) we can't help but squeal
oh la la as we hatch an excuse to take an office field trip to the Upper East Side. Visit them at 864 Madison Ave, oh and would you mind picking us up a
douxaine of the blackcurrent violet macarons,
svp?! (We can just imagine the havoc another French New Yorker, Eloise of the Plaza, would wreck here!)

As Creative Director I get pretty excited when we begin collaborating with new artists. That couldn't be more true than with Langdon Graves and Firelei Baez. Both artists are young, incredibly talented, and creating work right now at the highest level. ArtStar will have limited edition prints by both these artists available soon. I was even more excited when I learned that both Firelei and Langdon were showing work together in the same group show open now at Kravets|Wehby Gallery in Chelsea. The exhibition, titled Paperwork, also includes works by Saya Woolfalk, Nick Van Woert, and the street artist Cake. The exhibition, curated by Nina Chanel Abney, is comprised of young and upcoming artists whose work explores the manipulation of paper in all forms. It's a very refreshing show up until June 18 that I highly recommend checking out.
Sign up for the ArtStar Newsletter to be the first to know when Langdon and Firelei's prints are available on ArtStar.
