This kids room, from Swedish site Skonahem is too cute for words! The mix of books, art and masks creates a really playful atmosphere and we love the use of different stools around the playtable.

Snack Time, Rap Time

August 15, 2012

We LOVE this new video by Y.N.RichKids of some Minneapolis-area kids rapping about their favorite snack foods: Hot Cheetos and Takis! Not only are the beats pretty rad, but they also advocate sharing and being polite to your mom ("no, ma'am" when she asks if you've had enough snacks.)

The Lille Huset Dollhouse from Miniluu

Many thanks to our friend Kristin of the lovely website Miniluu for her sweet post about our summer party on Bonbon mini. Max looked absolutely adorable running around Elk studio!

from the Blog:

Yesterday we joined our friends at ArtStar and Little Collector for an artist party at Elk Studios. ArtStar works with well known artists to create affordable limited edition prints for new and seasoned collectors alike. Little Collector is the children's version with fun collectible art for kids like the one above by Mickalene Thomas.

Chrissy Crawford, the founder and just all around super woman behind ArtStar and Little Collector has been a huge source of inspiration and support for Miniluu. She gave us a preview of the new website which will features a beautifully streamlined design and two minute documentaries on each artist. You'd think I'm new to this blogging thing because of course I didn't remember to take photos of anyone, but I did take a few shots of Max goofing around on the cyclorama. He had a blast running around the airy studio space, eating pizza and just generally being two. Oh the glories of being two!

The Museum of Modern Art has world-renowned programing and educators, but watch (or rather) listen what happens when kids take over the tours! Opinionated and forthright, these kids keep nothing back when giving their own take on some of the biggest pieces in MoMA's permanent collection. Enjoy!

Norval Morisseau

August 1, 2012

In honor (honour?) of an upcoming trip to Canada I'm posting one of my favourite paintings by the Canadian painter Norval Morisseau entitled Mother and Child. Says Morisseau, "I want to make paintings full of colour, laughter, compassion and love. I want to make paintings that will make people happy, that will change the course of people's lives. If I can do that, I can paint for a hundred years."
