Inka Essenhigh's paintings are drawn form the natural world but are about inner worlds. Her work was recently included in the show "Comic Abstraction" at the Museum of Modern Art, New York, and in "Imagination Becomes Reality" at the Museum Fur Neue Kunst, Karlsruhe, Germany. She has had solo exhibitions at the Salamanca Ciudad de Cultura Fundacion Municipal, Salamanca, Spain; Sint-Luks Galerie, Brussels, Belgium; The Museum of Contemporary Art, Miami, FL, and The Fruitmarket Gallery in Edinburgh, Scotland. Essenhigh was included in the 2004 Biennial de Sao Paulo, Brazil, as well as the Site Santa Fe Biennial, Santa Fe, New Mexico. She lives and works in New York.
